Energy efficiency upgrade of the E.C.B. operational headquarters

We are pleased to announce that in August 2024, the energy efficiency upgrade activities at our Rivoli headquarters have been completed.

Investing in renewal

With the goal of reducing energy consumption , but more importantly, improving the working comfort of all staff and promoting environmental sustainability , about two years ago, we embarked on an investment journey totaling over €200,000 to renovate the E.C.B. headquarters in Rivoli. 
 

The project involved the following activities:

• Replacement of the workshop's heat generators with modern external condensing boilers paired with fan coil units that circulate glycol solution;
• Installation of ceiling-mounted heat destratifiers in the workshop to limit the rise of hot air towards the roof and reduce heat loss;
• Installation of a ducted heat pump air conditioning system for the assembly and wiring lab;

• Replacement of fluorescent and metal halide lighting fixtures in the offices and workshop with new , more efficient LED solutions;
• Replacement of the industrial gates with new insulated gates, improving energy efficiency and reducing thermal dispersion;
• Replacement of the old aluminum frames with cold-cut and traditional double-glazing with new Schuko thermal break frames and triple selective glass to significantly reduce solar radiation on the east and south façades;
• Renovation of the roof covering, involving the removal of eco-friendly fiber cement and bituminous waterproofing membranes, and installation of an insulated corrugated sheet metal roof with a high solar reflection index, combined with polycarbonate skylights to maximize the entry of natural light from above, thereby reducing energy consumption and the environmental impact;

• Renovation of the external wall with a ventilated façade, solution, consisting of aluminum/polyurethane foam/aluminum sandwich panels anchored to a metal substructure, to insulate the existing prefabricated façade.

Next steps

At E.C.B., we never stop moving forward and are always looking for new challenges. In fact, by the end of 2024, the expansion work for our headquarterswill also commence. Thanks to the acquisition of an adjacent property, which will be renovated using innovative and environmentally friendly solutions, we will extend the production area as well as the office and laboratory spaces, exceeding a total of 1,000 square meters.
